Ben Zobrist

The Monday feature of the Worldly Saints blog focuses on a story from the sports world – current or historic. The goal is to recognize athletes who are using their sports and athletic abilities to further the kingdom of God or to show how some athletes or teams are wasting their days by not giving God the glory or to simply reflect on a story from the sports world from a Christian perspective.

“I don’t dream of fame, fortune or popularity; but for me, if God allows me to [continue to] play, I will have a different perspective – to direct people back to the Lord”, says World Series champion Ben Zobrist.

There are a few baseball players that I have read about who really ARE NOT wasting their sports. Zobrist is one of them. I have only come to know him in the last 6 months through various interviews – like this one with Colin Hansen from The Gospel Coalition.

I encourage you to read the below linked article for a little biographical information about God brought him up as an alum of Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, MO and now a World Series champion.

Also, enjoy this chapel message at Lipscomb University from 2013.
