The Monday feature of the Worldly Saints blog focuses on a story from the sports world – current or historic. The point is to recognize athletes who are using their sports and athletic abilities to further the kingdom of God or to show how some athletes or teams are wasting their days by not giving God the glory.
You have probably heard people debate about whether it is permissible to pray for your sports teams to win.
You have probably heard an athlete after the big win say something about God being with him and his team and then you wondered if God wasn’t with the other Christians on the other team.
You have probably wondered why some Christian athletes get injured and other don’t.
These types of questions are pondered by some sports fans (like myself).
Or perhaps you have never thought about these kinds of questions and now you are.
Last week, I came across an article by Jesse Johnson, who is the Teaching Pastor at Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield, VA. And he answers these questions and other related ones with great accuracy in an article entitled “Did God ‘Want’ Jordy Nelson to Get Injured?”
For today’s blog post on sports, I refer you there. Enjoy!
