MacArthur and Sproul Debate Infant Baptism

The Thursday feature of the Worldly Saints blog will be sharing of a media clip (audio or video) that has either educated, equipped, provoked or entertained us in some way.

I don’t remember the exact year, but a little over 10 years ago, the Ligonier Conference was being hosted my a Nazarene mega-church in Pasadena, CA. It is the only Ligonier Conference I have ever attended and it was well worth it.

John MacArthur and R.C. Sproul held a multi-hour debate on the subject of infant baptism. I don’t believe there are any videos available of such a debate, but you can listen to the below YouTube video.

SPOILER ALERT: MacArthur clean Sproul’s clock in the debate!

  1. Charles, I heard a debate between R.C. Sproul and Alistair Begg 14 years or so ago at a “Renewing Your Mind” conference with the same results. For those of us who believe there is no Scriptural evidence for Infant Baptism, the argument seems so clear and self evident. I love R.C. Srpoul for his stand and teaching on God’s Holiness and Sovereignty and Redemption and so much more, but…
    Thanks for sharing this.

    1. Agreed Jim. Even “my man” Kevin DeYoung is an infant-baptizer, but his case is biblically in-defensible. Still a good – as it is outside of being a primary issue.
