This is Day #4 of the Twelve Days of Christmas songs.
Joy to the World must never be sung – in my opinion – like a funeral dirge or with a tempo so slow that you can watch paint dry and grass grow. Since the song is a celebration about a new creation that is made possible by the life and work of Christ, it is cause for an upbeat, up-tempo jubilee of praise.
And many have done this song in such a style. A favorite version I have recently discovered is Chris Tomlin’s rendition.
